"The price of celebrity."
Beetee Latier[src]

The Victors Purge was a mass arrest, interrogation and execution of previous Hunger Games victors, orchestrated by Panem's government and rebels, after the 75th Hunger Games came to an unexpected end with the destruction of the arena, and led to the possible deaths of fifty-two victors. Katniss Everdeen, Finnick Odair, and Beetee were rescued from the arena by Plutarch Heavensbee in a District 13 hovercraft. At the same time, Enobaria, Peeta Mellark, and Johanna Mason were captured from the arena and taken to The Capitol for interrogation and torture. Annie Cresta was also captured and held in the same underground prison as Enobaria, Peeta, and Johanna to be used to harm Finnick.

By the end of the rebellion, there were only seven victors remaining: Enobaria, Beetee, Annie Cresta, Johanna Mason, Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Throughout the Victors Purge and the rebellion, around fifty-two victors died. This is known through Katniss' description of the reapings for the 3rd Quarter Quell in Catching Fire when she states that there have been in Hunger Games history, including her and Peeta, seventy-five Victors, but at the time of the Quarter Quell, fifty-nine were still alive. So, the seven surviving, minus the fifty-nine still living, equates to fifty-two dead Victors.

Each of the surviving victors were either reaped for the 75th Hunger Games, or participated in the Quarter Quell (Annie Cresta was reaped but Mags volunteered for her; Haymitch was reaped but Peeta volunteered).
