Biography of Catching Fire
In Catching Fire, the 50th Hunger Games were watched by Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in order to prepare for the 75th Hunger Games. Since it was the second Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes were selected, and the District 1 female represented one of the female tributes for District 1.
As usual, the Careers made an alliance, and when the weak were brought down, they turned on each other. She managed to make it past the many traps set by the Gamemakers, some of which killed one of the District 2 boys and half of the Career alliance.
She made it to the final two, and tracked down and fought Haymitch Abernathy, one of the District 12 male tributes, with her axe. Although she sustained great injuries, Haymitch suffered greater damages, having to hold his intestines in while fleeing. At some point during her battle with Haymitch, her eye was cut out. She chased him to a cliff and then threw her axe, but Haymitch dodged her attack. He had led her to the force field, and while she thought she just threw her axe over the cliff, Haymitch knew better. The axe ricocheted off the force field and lodged itself in her head. She then died, leaving Haymitch as the victor. This angered the Capitol greatly as Haymitch had used the arena to his advantage, which was seen as mocking the Capitol.
